Vaughan Family Update Christmas 2025

Tis the season for your virtual Vaughan visit, or at least this brief update on our tribe.

Elizabeth and her crew continue their busy and exciting lives in Gaffney, SC, where she continues her work as a special education teacher as well as being a pastor’s wife and mother of three active growing boys. Josh continues his ministry as Pastor of East Gaffney Baptist Church and has published another book, “Get Rich Quick,” which is a discipleship journey leading the learner into the greater riches of a mature walk with Christ. Liam, now a ninth grader, (gulp) was selected to begin some college-credit courses in January. Creighton continues to thrive in his studies and his kickboxing. He was a featured fighter at an event in Las Vegas this year. Josiah is also a strong student and has added the trumpet to his musical interests along with the piano. 

 Dee and Linda enjoyed a great visit with Liam and Josiah while Creighton and his parents were in Vegas for the fight. 

The biggest news at Josh and Jen’s house this year is the addition of Jeremiah. He is full of life and love and is smothered with attention from his big sister and brother. Juliana is loving first grade and is learning French in her school’s French immersion program. (Since Baptists practice immersion, Papa supports her being in the program.)  She is studying ballet and hip-hop dancing and loves to sing. She
 blossomed as a soccer player this season, scoring a number of goals. James continues his education at St. Andrews Weekday Preschool and played on his first soccer team, scoring, to

quote him, “a wotta goals.” Josh’s crew traveled to France this fall to support Jen’s brother in an international bread baking competition. They enjoyed sightseeing and some fun time at Euro-Disney. Josh and Jen continue their work in physical therapy, Josh at Fort Jackson and Jen with Prisma Health. 

Andrew is enjoying the life of a personal banker at Palmetto Citizens Credit Union where he excels in customer service. He’s learned that treating people with respect and kindness is good business. He loves being Uncle Andrew to his niece and nephews and pops in for lunch with Dee and Linda often since his office is near their home. Andrew has developed an interest in horticulture and nurtures a variety of plants in his office and his apartment. Dee and Linda seek his advice on how they can delay killing the plants in their home.

 Linda continues to pursue her passion of adult education and carries each of her students in her head and heart. She celebrates her students’ accomplishments with anyone who’ll listen. She reigns as the queen of our tribe and is full of helpful suggestions for how Dee can spend his free time. She adores being Nama and pouring into the life of her six grands. She also thrives on pouring into the lives of young families at St. Andrews through her ministry as a Bible Study Group teacher.

Dee is in a chronic state of semi-retirement. He recently completed a fifteen-month ministry as interim pastor of Greenlawn Baptist Church in Columbia. He and that fine church were good for each other. Dee published two more books this year, another volume in his series, “The Gospel According to Andy,” and a collection of short Christmas stories, “The Whispers of the Trees.” He spends many Thursdays volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, learning about construction and helping deserving families realize the dream of home ownership. He plans to serve in Honduras in March 2026 as team pastor for a medical missions team. Dee continues to send guitars to churches in Honduras that have no worship instruments through his project, “One-Way Guitars.”
